Since 1958 the Mesquite Championship Rodeo has enjoyed a rich history and tradition, combined with an international reputation. Considered by many to be the "authentic" Texas experience, the rodeo is now part of a hospitality, lodging and entertainment complex organized in large part through the efforts of Spencer Alpert.
In 1994, on behalf of a national hotel developer, Mr. Alpert initiated complex negotiations with the city of Mesquite and the long time owners of the nearby Rodeo facility. This culminated in a public/private partnership resulting in the successful development of the Hampton Inn and Suites, Rodeo Conference Center, and Exhibition Hall and a renovated Resistol Arena just fifteen minutes of east of downtown Dallas.
At its groundbreaking ceremony, Mayor Mike Anderson publicly thanked Mr. Alpert for bringing this important project to the community and honored him with a bronze shovel commemorating the occasion.
Today, the highly successful Rodeo Conference Center and Exhibition Center, the Convention Center and Exhibition Hall feature 21,000 square feet of meeting space. Nearly 35,000 square feet of exhibit space is available for trade shows and large scale conventions.
